Two Easy Tips On Picture Taking
Taking pictures seems easy enough. You turn the camera on, find a good frame and then push the button and "click' you got yourself a picture. However, for people who would want to take not just any picture but great pictures that people will appreciate, there is more to just clicking.
There are actually things to consider and work on in order for your pictures to be the best images that they can be. Here are a few easy tips that any novice can do on taking pictures which may help on producing a good portfolio of photographs that one can show off to family and friends.
* Know your subject. When taking a picture you always have a subject, whether it be a person, an animal, a plant or a flower or anything that you would want to be the center or the theme of your picture. And once you get to decide on that subject, you should be able to know it a little better; like how it moves, where is its best angle and how you would manage to take the picture with it. Here are specific examples.
If your subject is a budding flower and you would want to capture its color and its beauty, you would want to move in closer to have a better angle at it. If you are a little too far, the flower would just look like any other thing in your picture; the drama would be lost.
Now if your subject is a puppy or a baby, know that these beings can move about quite a lot and you usually do not have more control on those moves they make. So you should know when you can click on the shot before they turn or shift. If you are too slow, you may be missing on a great shot. Also, keep in mind that when taking pictures of babies and pets, you can get the best angle when you go down to their level. You cannot simply ask them to stand up and pose as you want them to. You as the photographer have to be the one to kneel down to be able to catch that great shot.
Now if you have older subjects who know well to pose in front of the camera, then be a good director. Coach them on their posture, make sure to bring out that smile and those twinkle in the eyes and you can never go wrong.
* Lighting. When you visit a photography studio, you would definitely not miss the number of lights that are set up there. This is because lighting in picture taking is very important. Light can define a good picture or not. If you've read the Bridges of Madison County, the character played by Clint Eastwood, who was a photographer, says that in his photographs, he focuses more on the light than on the subject. As when you follow the light you can get the greatest pictures. So make sure to watch your light.
